Attention all Catechists or Interested Adults

It has been the longstanding policy in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston that all catechists should have received their catechist certificate or be working toward that goal.

Beyond any requirements, don’t you want to feel confident in the content you are sharing with others? Don’t you want to feel secure that you know the basic teachings of the Church and can correctly answer the questions that come your way?

Called to serve through teaching, witness, prayer, service and building community

  • Summer Courses

This summer, courses are being offered on the campus of the University of St. Thomas the last 3 weeks of June. Courses are being offered at St. Laurence Catholic Church (Sugar Land) the week of July 8-12. Courses are being offered at St. Helen Catholic Church (Pearland) the week of July 15-19. Courses are being offered at Christy the Redeemer Catholic Church (Cypress area) the week of July 22-26. Each course is 10 hours long. Individuals are welcome to sign up for one or several.

We know that it can be a challenge to find time to commit to formation during the school year. Why not make some time this summer to grow in your faith and to grow in your ministry as a catechist?

  • Fall Courses

If the summer doesn’t work for you, then why not make a commitment now for the fall? This fall, classes are being offered on Tuesday evenings at St. Bernadette Catholic Church (Bay Area). We have 3 locations that are offering classes on a Friday afternoon – Saturday all-day format: St. Thomas More, St. Vincent de Paul, and St. Cecilia. As is the case for the summer, individuals are welcome to sign up for one course or an entire semester.
