Brown Scapular

About

The Brown Scapular Devotion is a beloved Catholic tradition rooted in the Carmelite Order and Our Lady’s promise to St. Simon Stock in the 13th century. Those who are enrolled in the scapular receive it as a sign of Mary’s special protection and a pledge to live a life of faith, purity, and prayer.

Wearing the Brown Scapular is more than a symbol—it’s a spiritual commitment. It invites the wearer to:

  • Honor Mary as Mother and Model

  • Live a Christ-centered life

  • Practice regular prayer, especially the Rosary

  • Embrace the call to holiness in everyday life

At Sts. Simon & Jude, we periodically offer enrollment in the Brown Scapular for those who wish to enter into this devotion. It’s a powerful way to entrust your life to Mary and grow in your relationship with Jesus through her motherly care.
