Wedding Coordinator Ministry
Bring dreams to life and create unforgettable moments as part of our Wedding Coordinator Ministry, where we work closely with couples to ensure their special day is filled with the Love of God, joy, and seamless coordination.
This is a terrific ministry! It is joyous, emotionally satisfying …….. and indispensable.
Most couples have spent months planning their wedding details, but have no idea how the actual ceremony will unfold. It’s up to a trained coordinator to guide them through the process. This is definitely a “people-oriented” ministry.
Are you Friendly? Patient? Tactful? Do you like people? If so, read on. A team of 2 wedding coordinators will arrive about 15 minutes early to prepare the church for the scheduled rehearsal, usually Friday evenings. They will spend about an hour with the wedding party, guiding them through the ceremony and practicing with each participant.
Final details, and any questions are dealt with during this time. On the day of the wedding, usually Saturday, the coordinators arrive an hour before the wedding to prepare the church, deal with all final details, and be available for the wedding party should they have any questions. After the ceremony, they work through the picture taking process with the wedding party, the families, and the photographers to ensure things wrap up in a timely manner.
Altogether, wedding days take about 3-4 hours.
Coordinators in training should attend as many rehearsals and weddings as possible to gain experience and learn from the experienced coordinators. When they feel comfortable enough to step into the lead role, they will partner with a trained coordinator before stepping out on their own.
All wedding activity is posted on the parish website. The Wedding Ministry Administrator will prepare a schedule of all weddings and share it with others to determine who is available on those given dates. Based on your availability you will be assigned to coordinate both the rehearsal and ceremony for that wedding. As schedules do change, flexibility is appreciated, and is the primary reason we would like to have multiple coordinators trained to support the church in forming new families.
One of the “perks” of this ministry is the fact we get to know the clergy, deacons, and employees on a more personal level as we help them work with couples during their preparation to be married. Each wedding comes with its own set of challenges and joys. Helping both the church, and the couple at this important time in their life is very rewarding.
This is truly a “Feel Good” ministry.
For those interested in supporting this ministry, we have a rehearsal coming up on Wednesday, May 31 at 5:00 and a wedding
at June 1, at 3:00.
No other weddings are scheduled until September.
