Adopt-a-Grandparent
Helping seniors to feel like part of a family. We visit senior living communities and bring joy, gift baskets and note cards from our parishioners.
Studies show that depression among nursing home residents is largely caused by the lack of social interaction and environmental isolation.
The objective of the Adopt-A-Grandparent Ministry is to show value, respect, and care for the elderly by providing them with love and joy during visits. Joyful visit activities include live music, bingo, making crafts, and dancing.
Adopt-A-Grandparent also holds parties close to special dates, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Veterans Day, 4th of July. Before each event, the Ministry organizes gift baskets and notes of care card drives, where families participate by donating beautiful children’s artwork, cards, and seasonal gifts for prizes that are given to all residents. Monetary donations are used to buy supplies needed for the arts and crafts as well as gifts and materials for the events.
