SSJ Society of the Eucharist The SSJ Society of the Eucharist is a ministry at Sts. Simon & Jude dedicated to deepening devotion to the Eucharist through Adoration. Our mission is to encourage and foster a greater love for Christ in the Blessed Sacrament by promoting Eucharistic Adoration within the parish community. We organize special Holy Hours, coordinate Adoration schedules, and invite parishioners to spend time in prayer before the Lord. Through our efforts, we seek to inspire a culture of reverence, prayer, and Eucharistic devotion, helping individuals grow closer to Christ through His Real Presence. Our dream is to have a Perpetual Adoration Chapel, but first, we must have Perpetual Adoration! In order to make this a reality, we need YOU to support and promote Adoration at SSJ. Inspired by Matthew Kelly’s International Society of the Eucharist , we are building a movement of Eucharistic devotion right here in our parish. Sign Up! We currently offer Adoration all day long on Wednesdays, Nocturnal Adoration on First Fridays, and our next special devotion is the Eucharistic Novena from February 28 – March 8. Acerca de Nuestra Parroquia La parroquia Saints Simon and Jude comenzó en 1979, cuando el obispo Fiorenza envió al reverendo monseñor Charles C. Domec (1931-2013, ordenado el 26 de mayo de 1956) a The Woodlands para plantar una iglesia y unir a las personas para construir una comunidad en la fe católica. Fue todo un desafío el que tuvo. Santos Simón y Judas Tanto Simón como Judas eran hombres comunes que fueron escogidos por el mismo Jesús para enseñar a otros sobre el amor de Dios y para “hacer discípulos a todas las naciones” (Mateo 28:19). Sus vidas nos ayudan a comprender que incluso las personas más comunes pueden convertirse en santos cuando deciden seguir a Jesús. Ambos hombres fueron conocidos por otros nombres durante sus vidas. Simón era a menudo llamado “el Fanático”. Un fanático es una persona que está fuertemente comprometida con algo. En el caso de Simon, él creía firmemente en la importancia de que las personas siguieran la ley judía. Una vez que conoció a Jesús, su vida cambió y se convenció de que lo más importante era seguir a Jesús y sus enseñanzas. Those who want to become members of MFC attend a local Christian life seminar which is a series of nine talks dealing with Christian catechesis. MFC also conducts the Live Christ, Share Christ seminar in collaboration with the parish. SSJ FALL FESTIVAL ART CONTEST Open to all students Grades K-12 with t wo main divisions: K-6 and 7-12. Theme: Seasons of Fall and Our Patron Saints Due: October 4, 2024 All art must be submitted to the church front office or to the chairwoman of the contest (Kathleen Patry; kpatry@gmail.com ) Prizes in each division: 1st: $50 2nd: $30 3rd: $20 All artworks will be displayed and available for sale in Event Center during Bingo Night and during the festival. All funds collected from any sales will be placed in the Youth Ministry Account for future programming. 1st place winners will have their art featured in the Program for the Fall Festival. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and participant ribbons will be awarded as well. Rules All art must be hand drawn/painted/colored, etc. by the student. Graphic design art will be accepted as long as it is done in a program such as Krita, Clip Studio Paint, etc. No AI generated work or similar will be accepted. This is a contest to show your art skills, not the computers! All art must be on a piece of paper or similar art medium no smaller than 5" x 7" and no larger than 8.5" x 11". We will be scanning the art for the programs, and the art must be able to fit on a scanner bed. You will not receive your artwork back. All artworks will be available to be purchased at the Auction and the Festival. Judging Judging will take place in two parts. 50% of the total score will be based on community judging that will take place on the plaza, while we also sell BBQ tickets the first two weeks of October. The other 50% of the score will be based on a 3–4-person panel of judges.
