Adoptar un abuelo “Los abuelos son un tesoro, una sociedad que no valora, respeta y cuida a sus mayores no tiene futuro…” (Papa Francisco) Los estudios muestran que la depresión entre los residentes de hogares de ancianos es causada en gran medida por la falta de interacción social y el aislamiento ambiental. El objetivo del Ministerio Adopta a un Abuelo es mostrar valor, respeto y cuidado a los ancianos brindándoles amor y alegría durante las visitas. Las actividades alegres de la visita incluyen música en vivo, bingo, manualidades y baile. Adopt-A-Grandparent también organiza fiestas cerca de fechas especiales, como Acción de Gracias, Navidad, Día de San Valentín, Día de los Veteranos, 4 de julio. Antes de cada evento, el Ministerio organiza canastas de obsequios y colectas de tarjetas de notas de cuidado, donde las familias participan donando hermosas obras de arte para niños, tarjetas y obsequios de temporada para los premios que se entregan a todos los residentes. Las donaciones monetarias se utilizan para comprar los suministros necesarios para las artes y manualidades, así como los regalos y materiales para los eventos. Involucrarse ¡Cualquier persona de cualquier edad es bienvenida a participar en las actividades de Adopt-a-Grandparent! Se valoran especialmente las obras de arte de los niños para tarjetas, notas y otros mensajes. El Ministerio se ha asociado muchas veces con el Ministerio de Jóvenes SSJ, el Ministerio de Visitación y Hands with Hearts.
