SSJ | Holy Week Missions

Who can attend Missions? Everyone!
Holy Week Missions (April 6-8) is open to all SSJ parishioners, families, youth, couples, and individuals. We also welcome all parishioners from other parishes in Houston North who want to live Holy Week differently and serve God through evangelization and service to others.

What are Missions?
For several years, SSJ has organized Holy Week missions coordinated by a group of parishioners, supported by Mission Youth. Holy Week Missions is an evangelization project that transforms the lives of missionaries, families, and the people whom we serve. It’s an amazing experience where missionaries bring the message of Christ to the world during the most sacred weeks of our Catholic Church; Holy Week and Easter Week. In fact, every year, we have thousands of missionaries throughout the United States performing wonderful works of mercy.
What We Do for Missions
SSJ missions will be mainly onsite at church. Evangelization and Service Missions: From helping with Easter Basket preparation, preparing and serving food for homeless at Loaves & Fishes (limited attendance), Sock and Shoes sorting and collection, clothes sorting, Door to Door, Cross Walk at Waterway and maintenance work of our parish… there are multiple ways to help and be part of our mercy missions.

Door to Door
Walk in the neighborhood, reach out and evangelize our community promoting SSJ activities, Easter masses…etc.

Crosswalk at the Waterway
On Holy Saturday, all youth and family missionaries will meet at the waterway and do a crosswalk, praying rosary and singing. Youth will request prayer intentions as we meet people and walk close to the waterway to finish in the park for a closure event. We will share testimonies, pray, and have some fun!
